Here Are Some Handy Tips You Should Know

If you have never ridden further than ±500km in one day it will be good to read the following IBA Ride Tips.

Please note that you should try and stay as close to your daily intake of beverages as possible but taking MORE Liquid than normal in warm and hot regions!!!

IBA Archive of Wisdom - 29 Riding Tips (Must be read in context of your own habits as well. eg. If you drink 10 cups of coffee then don`t change this. The comment on the coffee specifically is aimed at people who do not normally drink coffee and now want to use it to stay awake)

All South African GOLD & DUSTY BUTT Rides MUST be supported by the use of either BubblerGPS (Android), BubblerGPS Pro (Android) or SWConnect (IOS) for mobile phones. The link to SPOTWALLA must be provided in advance of the ride in all these cases.

PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THE IBA SOUTH AFRICA REPRESENTATIVE if you are unsure about anything.

EXTRAS
It is said that the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Take note of the following data that was recorded during a very recent SS1600K ride.

Notice the DIFFERENCE between the ODOMETER READING and the MAP DISTANCE.

That is 62 kilometers or 3.7% OVER READING!!!!

ride kms submit

Why am I harping on this? Plainly because during a recent ride the guy claims a BunBurner 2500K ON ODOMETER READING as his bike`s odometer read exactly THAT!!

Some IMPORTANT NOTES!!

1. Certification is done on MAP DISTANCE using mostly Google Maps. IF there seems to be a problem we will use either Garmin Mapsource/Basecamp and/or Tracks4Africa.

We WILL ALWAYS take the SHORTEST DISTANCE between two points UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE that you have taken the longer route.

The reason for this is that MOST motorcycles` odometers ARE AT LEAST 7% over reading and some up to 15% and it has got nothing to do with the brand.

2. Use the CORRECT SOUTH AFRICAN CUSTOMISED FORMS!!!!

These are to be found under the FILES TAB in THIS GROUP.

3. When you have queries about the IBA in South Africa contact the SOUTH AFRICAN Certifier. No use going straight to America as it is just referred back to South Africa and you will NOT be contacted when you choose to use the incorrect channels.
